1. Grumpy Cat
Grumpy Cat is an internet picture that surfaced on reddit, and quickly spread as a meme across the internet. As the name would suggest, the cat, named “Tardar Sauce,” constantly has a grumpy look on its face. The feline made such a big impact that it appeared on television shows such as Good Morning America, Today, and the CBS Evening News.
2. Bubbles
Bubbles will always be one of the most famous pets ever. Bubbles, a chimpanzee, was Michael Jackson’s inseparable friend for almost 15 years. Not too many pets, or people for that matter, have the chance to live with a music legend or sip tea with the mayor of Osaka, Japan – a privileged monkey indeed.
3. Uggie
This famous canine has already starred in 3 major motion pictures, most notably, the Oscar-nominated film, The Artist. Uggie has also had his star enshrined on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and has even been kissed by Reese Witherspoon. He’s carried out many men’s fantasies.
4. Giant George
Standing in at 7 feet tall and weighing almost 200 pounds is a Great Dane, affectionately named George. George was named to the Guinness Book of World Records as the tallest dog in the world. He’s been on numerous TV shows including Oprah, and is featured in a book that has been translated into 8 different languages.
5. Socks
Although Socks passed away recently, he was known for the white fur on his feet and black coat, making it appear as though he was wearing socks. And more importantly, he was the Clinton family’s pet in the White House for 8 years.
6. Henri the Cat
This cat became a Youtube phenomenon after being the subject of a series of black and white videos titled “Le Chat Noir”. In the videos, Henri was dubbed over with lamentations about various things including Halloween and shaving cream.
7. Maru Taro
This Shiba-Inu breed has gained fame on Instagram in the recent past. With over 50,000 followers, the dog has become the most popular animal on all of Instagram. But you have to admit, he’s pretty cute.
8. Sockington
Hailing from Massachusetts, Sockington, is a former stray cat that rose to stardom on Twitter. The feline, which tweets regularly on the social media website has over 1.5 million followers, which makes it the most followed animal on Twitter.
While it’s estimated that 1 in 10 pets have a social media account, it’s only a select few of them that are destined for fame. The online website Break has some hilarious pictures of animals, and it may be your best shot at seeing the next famous pet on the web. If only your pet could be so lucky.
