The Importance of the Prototype

Trev December 17, 2016 Reviews Comments are off

You have your product planned and you have been nurturing the ideas that are about to make that product a reality. You are going to negotiate providers and customers and start a long and ambitious road to perfection. You’ve come from sticky notes to digital drafting software, and now you’re ready to take the final steps.

The most exciting step on the journey to developing your product is most certainly the actual manufacturing. Getting that dream turned into a reality right in front of your eyes brings the hard work you’ve put into it seem all the more worth it. However, an often over looked step in that very same journey is the prototype.

There are several benefits to emphasizing the prototype. The first is that having a model of what you want instead of a warehouse of you thought you wanted. The room for error is an excellent resource for you and one that can easily be maintained by prototyping.

It also speaks volumes to have that rapid prototype or tester while your negotiating sales. This lets your potential clients or vendors know that you are open to adjustment if need be and that you are operating in a low risk way with a high potential for reward. It also comes in handy in large scale advertising.

The design of your product will very obviously evolve with demand, time, and industry innovation. Keeping your work in a prototype as each new change develops will help you brainstorm much more effectively.
