What is it?
The Warm Front Scheme is an initiative to provide insulation and improve the heating systems in low-income families and households, elderly people or disabled people. With this initiative, alternative forms of energy are recommended such as low carbon, oil or renewable technologies. Qualifications and benefits for the Warm Front Scheme
Most people tend to rush to get free items but the Warm Front Scheme has laid down qualifications that must attain in order to be considered for this scheme. The basic qualification for the Warm Front Scheme is simply owning a home or even renting a home from private landlords. If you fall under these categories the benefits you can receive from the Warm Front Scheme include;

Allowances for people living with disabilities, credit for Child tax (but can only be allowed for people earning less than £16,040), a housing, Council tax benefit and also income support which must include a disability premium, a working tax credit for those with an income of less than £16,040 which must also include a disability element, an attendance allowance, an industrial injuries disablement benefit which must include Constant Attendance Allowance and Lastly a war disablement pension which must also include a mobility supplement or Constant attendance allowance.

On the other hand, if you have a child under 16 years old, or you are pregnant and have actually received a maternity certificate, you can receive the following benefits; income related employment and support allowance, job seekers allowance which is income based, housing benefit, income support, council tax benefit, pension credit etc.

If you are aged 60 and above, you can receive the following benefits; housing benefit, income support, council tax benefit, pension credit, income related employment and support allowance etc.

How does the Warm Front Scheme work?
The Warm Front Scheme works in 3 steps. First, you should apply for the scheme either online, over the phone or by post. Secondly, if your application is successful, an engineer from the Warm Front Scheme will visit you in your home and suggest important improvements to be made as per the scheme. Then comes the installation phase where installers from the Warm Front Scheme make all the necessary improvements in your home.

Insulation may take 4 months and heating around 6 months. The last step is the inspection phase where inspectors from the Warm Front Scheme ensure that the installers have performed their work adhering to high standards. A quality assessment of the overall work done is conducted to guarantee maximum efficiency.
