Although it still seems like summer – the mild weather, and glorious sunshine – there are tell-tale signs that winter is on the way once more. The days are getting shorter and there is a slight chill in the air. Now is the time to ensure that your home is prepared for what may feel like a very long winter this year…

Check your windows – One of the biggest culprits for letting in the cold is a draughty window. There are some ways that you can do a DIY temporary fix on this but in the long run it is worth investing in some good replacement windows.

Cover up – If you have floorboards, they may well be letting a lot of cold in. You have a few options here. You can fill them in to stop the cold from getting in, or you could get a few rugs to place over them during winter which will also make your home look cosy. For a really warm floor, consider underfloor heating – make sure you have it installed by a professional such as this electric underfloor heating Gloucestershire based company.

Keep an eye on your Boiler – For many reasons, it is important that you have your boiler checked regularly, or if you notice it is not performing as it should. One of these is that it may not be efficiently heating your home, leading to a colder home and higher energy bills, so it is always worth ensuring that you have a good heating specialist on hand to help you.
