The etiquette of Wedding Invitations

Trev May 05, 2020 Reviews Comments are off

With another wedding season upon us again, there will be lots of happy couples tying the knot this year and knee deep in planning now, but with so much going on, it’s easy to forget the simple rules of etiquette surrounding invitations.

No RSVP

Yes, it’s frustrating and just a little impolite, but there will always be one or two guests who do not RSVP but appear anyway. Anyone who did not respond to the invitation by the date set should be contacted before the big day, but if you do not for whatever reason, it’s not a big deal. Ask a friend or member of staff to find them a seat and let them join the festivities. Most of these eventualities are prepared for by venues and caterers. For Function rooms Newbury, visit a site like Newbury Races, one of the best for Function rooms Newbury.

Others controlling the guest list

Parents and in-laws may be pressuring you to invite the world and his dog, but you want a small intimate celebration. A good rule is that anyone who is stumping up for most of the cost, does have a say in who will be placed on the guest list. Try to have a calm and frank discussion if you are bothered by their choice, it is your wedding after all! A compromise usually satisfies everyone.

Do not include a gift list

When guests are ready, they will contact you and ask. Including details of gifts on the invitation is considered a bit tacky. If you have a special wedding website, it is fine to include these details, but you should avoid inviting and asking for gifts in the same correspondence.
