One of the biggest issues that a warehouse manager, or employee for that matter, has to deal with is the problem of moving stock. This begins from delivery and can be a real challenge. The issue varies from warehouse to warehouse and product to product. When you have a large bulk item, for example, tins of baked beans, these are relatively easy to move. They are usually stacked on a pallet, and all that is needed is for a forklift or pallet truck to have its forks placed under the pallet and then moved into the space allocated to it. While this may take some time in terms of human activity it’s still the best way to do it.
What about the beans themselves? Before they arrive at the food processing factory, how are they moved and stored? Baked beans are the pulse known as the Haricot Bean. When they are picked, they are dried and transported. However, given the bulky nature leaving them in the sacks they are delivered in seems to be a bit problematic.
The answer to the movement of any small pulse, grain, animal feed or even small medical pills like aspirin and paracetamol is to use Pneumatic conveying like that from Aptech. This system uses vacuum and air to push the small items around the warehouse to delivery vehicles and storage vats in hermetically sealed tubes. This will stop any foreign objects from getting in so that they can be safely transferred in bulk.
