8 ways to make your home feel cozy this year

There are so many ways to keep your home cosy and warm in the winter months. Using your imagination, ingenuity and some crafting skill, you can keep yourself comfortable and cosy without bumping up your energy bills.

1. Upgrade your radiators

Installing thermostatic radiator valves can result in savings of up to 40 per cent on your energy bills. Invest in new smart valves and you will be able to precisely control your home heating from your smartphone.  Cheltenham plumber https://actdirect.co.uk/emergency-plumber/
could help you with your radiators requirements keeping you snug throughout the year.

  1. Open your oven

Once you have finished cooking, open your oven door and let the heat dissipate through the house. You have already heated your oven, so why waste the heat?

    3. Shelf it

Putting a shelf over your radiator can help to trap and channel the warmth back into the room. The radiator stops the hot air rising directly to the ceiling and means you keep warmer. This is a particularly good trick if you have high ceilings.

4. DIY draught excluders

Whether you want a no-nonsense sausage or an adorable elongated animal, a homemade draught excluder is a fantastic DIY way to keep the draughts out. A swimming noodle makes a great simple draught excluder if your sewing skills are not great. If a draught excluder won’t cut it with your draughty windows and doors, look at investing in double glazing from a trusted supplier.

  1. Use a balloon

If you don’t use your chimney, the chances are that it is sucking heat out of your living room. You can have it boarded up or removed completely; however, if you think you might use it in the future, a chimney balloon that can be inflated to stop draughts and deflated when you might like to light a fire is a smart option.

    6. Reverse it

If you have ceiling fans with a reverse direction, use it. This will suck the cold air upwards and push the warm air back down into the toom.

    7. Old boiler?

Upgrading to a new boiler could help you to make big savings. Look for an A rated condensing boiler for the biggest impact on your bills.

    8. Move the furniture

Moving your sofa from in front of your radiators allows the heat to circulate for instant heat!
