Have you thought if the techniques of web traffic you use to promote your website are a waste of time?
Not just talking about questionable cuts picked up in some rare forum. We’re talking recommended by leading industry publications proven techniques authority.
But you know what?
They are above all a lot of stupidities. In the last five years, I read more than 1,000 bloggers. I have explored their organizational activities. I’ve seen your traffic statistics. And most of the things they say, just do not work. And not only is less effective than advertised. In reality, it is that there are hardly any significant results.
You wonder what exactly a “significant number?”
Well, I’m glad you asked… This is how to measure the growth of traffic in your early or first steps, that is, when you’re a beginner.
Ask yourself this question… If you will implement a technique for double your traffic…
What would successful technique?
- Most people would say yes, but let’s look at some numbers, and I think you’ll see it otherwise.
- Say you get a visitor per day. Then you try new technique traffic, and your traffic grows to two visits per day. It is a 100% increase, but still just a damn visitor per day.
To get to that visitor, we will also say it takes an hour per day. Therefore, the technique is producing an extra time visitor inverted.
Forgive me for saying so, but that’s horrible….
You could run naked in a public parking lot with sign advertising on the back with your web address and insurance would succeed better than that.
No matter you have increased 100% increased traffic. When you’re a beginner, you should take the time to research how to get more traffic and therefore you should not think about having insurmountable visitors or page views or any of the other things of analytical programs.
They are visitor’s inverted hour (HPV for short) or to put it more precisely:
“They are unique visitors, and should consider a period of 30 days divided by the hours spent.”
Why 30 days?
You have to consider a time limit, or you will end up measuring the results after hundreds of years of waiting and that’s not very pragmatic. Thirty days, on the contrary, is a good test period. If you do not produce results then you have to adjust your strategy and try something different.
Of course, you may wonder…
What can be in principle a good ratio?
My recommendation:
If you are an absolute beginner, and you have no audience, you can start with 50 visitors per day (50 SPV). And then keep increasing the number until your site becomes more successful.
I’ll go ahead and I’ll spare you the suspense … Almost none of the techniques of so-called traffic experts recommend these 50 SPV. Here’s why:
Two types of traffic techniques
Most experts seem completely oblivious to the fact that there are two types of very different traffic techniques:
– Those who work when they have an audience
– Those who work when they have hearing
For example, you’ve heard many times that you publish quality content, right?
And it’s true; you should do … when you have an audience. This will give you the greatest possible HPV.
But … what before having a hearing?
It’s the worst. Of all the techniques I have observed in people new, to publish great content on your own site gave the lowest HPV.
It seems absurd, but true. Soon, I have the intention to publish an official study with accurate numbers.
But you may wonder…
If publishing content on your own site is so ineffective for beginners, why many experts recommend?
My guess: underestimate the importance of your own public.
They do not realize that the traffic they receive from the publication of new content is the result of a hearing that you like and trust them to the point of sharing that content. Remove the hearing, moreover, and the same content, would not succeed and would get that would not yield results.
The conclusion is that the vast majority of traffic techniques depend on the type of audience you have. To be more precise, they depend on you and you must have at least 1,000 subscribers who like what you do and to trust you.
However there are traffic techniques do not work quite right. Let’s see them…
11 Techniques traffic should not use
According to our research, the following traffic techniques are not effective when you are a beginner (and some are not always effective):
1) SEO on your page
You’ve heard that you should choose keywords for your tickets or articles and then optimize each for these words.
You may also have heard of image optimization, link structures and choosing a WordPress theme with “a good SEO.”
According to our research, however, these activities are almost a complete waste of time (on HPV) until you have a sizable audience. I’ll talk more about this in a future post.
2) Commenting Popular Blogs
This once used to be effective, but it turns out that many comments like Spam are received, and therefore affects HPV will fall drastically.
Yes, you can open the door to a future relationship with the blogger, but click traffic to your blog is not so great for warrants to do.
3) Press Release
To be clear, I am not against press releases as an advertising technique. If you have a really important story and want to connect with the press, a press release can remain effective.
On the other hand, if you publish press releases to get links and traffic to your site, you’ll end up very disappointed with the results.
Yes, you can give a lot, but traffic and links are not direct and do spam, which takes visitors to have little interest in your content.
4) Submitting your site to directories
Years ago, submitting your site to article directories used to be an essential part of SEO, but the benefits have largely disappeared.
The only exceptions are the high-quality directories where you have to meet legal standards as if you were to win a prize. However, this strategy is dead long ago.
5) Answering questions in the forums
Yes, certainly you can direct traffic, but you have to invest a lot of time. You can lose hundreds of hours answering questions, getting perhaps a few hundred visitors in return. HPV is terrible.
6) Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc. – This is a surprise
As it turns out, building followers at any of these sites actually you have the HPV second lowest of any of the above techniques.
If you have dedicated your time to use Facebook or Twitter, you can relax safely. You can ignore all these platforms to cross 1,000 subscribers to your blog.
7) Reddit, Hacker News, etc
While these sites can drive huge traffic, it is difficult that your content is on the first page until you get many readers who choose.
So again, do not use this strategy to your list quiet not reach the 1,000 subscribers to your blog.
8) Creating videos for YouTube
Interestingly, starting and use YouTube channels often get success and visits to their videos, but the real struggle is to convert those visitors into visitors and subscribers for your blog.
They also include the struggle to find time to keep both your blog and YouTube channel.
We may revise this strategy again in the future, but for now, HPV in terms of actual traffic to your blog is mediocre at best, so I do not recommend it for new bloggers.
9) Paying for a unique design
One would think that paying for a unique design can help establish your legitimacy and therefore have more traffic but actually seems to have no effect on the traffic at all.
It is much better to use a free WordPress theme or low cost and invest the money elsewhere.
10) Release Infographic
Not long ago, computer graphics are extremely powerful to drive traffic to your blog, and still are, although to a lesser extent.
The problem is that for an infographic is viral, you need a public that knows you and you can help promote the same or a solid strategy disclosure. As an independent strategy not recommend it.
11) Post large posts
As computer graphics, posts can also drive lots of traffic, but I repeat again, you should have lots of audience for dissemination and will help promote the article.
As an independent strategy, publishing great articles on your blog actually seems to have HPV lowest of all the techniques listed here.
Again, I’m not saying that any of these techniques are essentially bad. I’m just saying today are ineffective use, especially when you’re a beginner. Until then, it is much better to invest your time on other things.
So, what techniques actually work?
The only techniques that work for beginners in order to get traffic are four
As it turns out, there are only four…
1. Blogs guest
I am quite a fan of blogs guests, and the reason is that HPV has the second highest traffic strategies for beginners. If properly used, you can easily get 50 to 100, unique targeted visitors per hour invested. Look HERE to complete your information.
2. Interviews / podcasting
Interviewing influencers and then ask them to share the interview also happens to be a very effective strategy. You can do as a podcast, or you can record interviews in private and group them as an incentive to join your email list. Both have their pros and cons, but either way, HPV is excellent.
3. Scope
This is where things get confusing. While making great articles or your blog and infographic have a bad HPV themselves, they have an excellent SPV when both combined and disseminated.
You have to be willing to face the rejection and your content has to be one of the best ever published on the subject, but traffic long term this strategy is excellent.
In the short term, it is punished by blogs and interviews guests, why not recommend doing to get 1,000 subscribers, but it is still an effective way to get traffic when you’re a beginner.
4. Advertising
Last but not least, the technique with the highest HPV all: advertising.
What is the problem? That costs money!
If you are a beginner, maybe you cannot afford it, eliminating this strategy for many bloggers, but if you can invest some money and you get a budget to your needs, you could save months of effort to capture your first 1,000 subscribers.
And there you have it…
If you are a beginner and are building your blog from scratch, the above four techniques are the only ones you should use.
Normally, I recommend to my friends or acquaintances that begin with guest blogs and interviews, and then transition to the publication of a large combined content with the scope.
It is very simple:
Do what work! Avoid what does not work.
So far, you may have been struggling to figure out exactly what those things are, but now have a data-driven approach of this guide. If you used the wrong traffic techniques, you can adjust your course and start using that work.
You must listen … blogs do not have to be something that consumes your life. If you have a job or a family or business, you can totally build a popular blog devoted 20 hours a week or maybe even less.
Just use your time efficiently. With everything you do, time you spend and the results you get.
Already ahead with it and have a popular blog before you know it. And if you follow the strategy view here even you have time to enjoy it.
What kind of strategies are those that you keep on your blog?
