There are a number of birthdays that we traditionally like to celebrate in style, these include a person’s 21st birthday. Here in the United Kingdom a person is classed as an adult at age 18 and can drink alcohol and vote in elections. Elsewhere such as in the United States the age at which you are classed as an adult is 21.
The tradition in the UK used to be to give a 21-year-old a key on their birthday as it was deemed that this was the age that they would be getting married and moving into a home of their own away from their parents. Another historic traditional in the early 19th Century was to have all your teeth removed when you turned 21 and have them replaced with a set of dentures. The thinking behind this was that it would prevent you from costly dental bills in the future. Nowadays we choose to celebrate with a party instead and choose to give a much better gift than teeth removal!
There are many different ways that you can celebrate a 21st birthday party and these include:
- Celebration in town – many individuals choose to separate their celebration with family and friends and will often met up with their friends in their local town for an evening out at a favourite spot such as Cheltenham Nightclubs, where they can dance the night away in style listening to some great music with a variety of drink available to you.
- Party at a local venue – if you have lots of people to celebrate with you may find that your family organise a get together at a local venue with catering and entertainment organised so that you can celebrate with everyone all in one go.
- Extreme sports and adrenalin rushes – for those that enjoy a bit of an adrenalin surge, an activity day out perhaps to take part in some white-water rafting, paraglider or even a jump out of a plane would be a great way to celebrate turning 21.
- Holiday away – a trip away to a place you have always wanted to visit perhaps in Spain, Portugal or even a trip over to the United States with a group of your closest friends would give you both a great experience and memories of your 21st to last a lifetime.
