Working in manual jobs can wreak havoc on our backs, as can sitting for long periods of time at a desk. It is important to look after your spine and build strength in your back so as to avoid tension and strain building up in these areas.

Here are some of the different ways you can protect your back whilst at work.

Exercise – regularly exercise and strength training your back and your core muscles can help to prevent injuries from occurring. There are a number of ways that you can do this from yoga and pilates to weight and resistance training.

Equipment – if you are working in a manual job that requires you to move heavy items around, make sure that you use any equipment that has been provided to you. For example, a Pallet Trucks Ireland company can supply you with all the equipment you need to safely move pallets. This means that you can protect your back and avoid any nasty injuries.

Movement – as well as exercising it is important that you move throughout the day, especially if you have a desk job. This can be simply getting up from your desk and walking to the kitchen to make yourself a drink once every hour. Whilst you are walking give your legs and your arms and back a good stretch to help alleviate any tension that may have set in.
